Exotissimo would like to introduce an Angkor temple tour with a slightly different twist for those who would like to see these great ruins from a different perspective. To be honest, just seeing these remarkable structures is a memorable experience in itself, but to see them from a hot air balloon is downright thrilling! Add in some authentic experiences with the locals and you have the makings of a truly unforgettable Cambodian experience!
We will take you straight to the action! Right after your arrival in Siem Reap, start your temple touring experience at Angkor Thom, which you will visit in an eco-friendly electric vehicle. Be impressed from the get-go as stone elephants and massive faces watch you enter from the South Gate. An additional 54 gods and demons holding the fabled Naga snake continue your warm welcome to Angkor.
Continue on to the very center of the ancient city and literally come face to face with some gigantic face sculptures that decorate the area’s 54 towers, almost making you feel like a dwarf in a land of giants. Continue your orientation of Angkor with visits to the stage-like Terrace of the Elephants and the oddly named Terrace of the Leper King, both of which contain marvelous bas-reliefs.
The next destination in your itinerary is the infamous and massive Angkor Wat. The 12th century temple is admired for the grandeur and harmony of its design, it’s beautiful and extensive bas-relief, the numerous guardian spirits protecting the temple as well as its overall grandness and imposing presence. Symmetry is one of the temple’s greatest features, which you will encounter as you walk along the causeway towards Angkor Wat and at one of the nearby reflecting pools. Make sure the camera is rolling!
After seeing these great structures on the ground, why not then see them from the air? As you depart on a tethered helium balloon, view these marvelous structures 200 meters up in the sky. What a way to recap the day!
Your second day on this tour is about variation. First, visit Banteay Srey. Its unique composition of pink sandstone makes it one of the best-preserved temples in Cambodia. Afterwards, we will take you to Ta Phrom and Phreah Khan which are known for the fig trees that grow in, out and around these structures. This jungle/temple hybrid look certainly evokes a sense of mysticism that only Indiana Jones can relate to.
In between temple touring, why not take a break and interact with the locals? We feel that a visit to any country is incomplete without an authentic experience with the locals. Learn how rice paper, palm sugar and palm wine is produced. These are the best of Cambodia!
After touring some early-era Angkor temples at the Rolous Group on your third day, embark on an interesting boat trip on the Tonle Sap, home to the floating villages of Cambodia. The quiet and peaceful scenery is a great place to relax and think back to the incredible journey you just undertook!
