Itinerary

📍 Central HCMC - Vinh Long (130 km): 3.5 hours

Departure today at 08:30. Leave the buzz of Ho Chi Minh City behind and drive for 3.5 hours to Vung Liem, located in the eastern part of Vinh Long province, in the heart of the Mekong Delta. This region is known for its agricultural landscapes, particularly rice paddies, coconut plantations and fruit orchards. Upon arrival, check in and have lunch at the riverside lodge.

The discovery begins with an active cycling experience to explore the area (or via electric buggy -  to be requested in advance). Witness the traditional process of pop rice production at a local home, gaining insights into this age-old technique and experiencing daily life firsthand to learn about the craft. Next, participate in weaving water coconut leaves, a material utilized in Mekong Delta construction. Observe a villager's demonstration of making 'poon' sticks.

Cycle 8-14km along serene village paths (depending on physical condition), explore rice paddies, visit a dragon fruit plantation, and small family-run workshops making local specialties such as rice popcorn. Return to the lodge to freshen up.

Early in the evening, sample a variety of rice wines and other local drinks while interacting with the villagers and immersing yourself in the region’s culture. Take a stroll, holding torches made from dried coconut leaves, a traditional local custom for nighttime illumination, before learning to make ‘bánh xèo’ (aka Vietnamese pancakes) during a cooking demonstration, followed by dinner at the lodge.
