Venture into Vietnam’s north, escaping the modern world and delving into a land rich in culture and natural beauty. In between nights at the picturesque Pan Hou Lodge, trek through vibrant rice terraces to hilltribe villages and be immersed in their culture.
Depart Hanoi for the 7-hour drive to Ha Giang Province and the district of Hoang Su Phi. Leave the Red River Delta scenery behind and observe how the landscape changes while arriving in the mountains of northern Vietnam. Arrive in the town of Tuyen Quang around noon and have a simple Vietnamese style lunch in a local restaurant. After the meal continue to the stunning Hoang Su Phi area which is one of the most remote areas in Vietnam offering breathtaking scenery and colourful hill tribe culture.
On arrival in Hoang Su Phi check into the Lodge, freshen up, and then take an afternoon’s walk through the rice terraces surrounding the lodge.

fter breakfast, depart on foot to the nearby mountain. The day walk begins with an ascent and the crossing of a narrow promontory. The landscape gradually opens to distant mountain ranges flowing into undulating terraced slopes.
Arrival in a Red Dao village, where women wear bright red dresses and shiny brocade, and cultivate medicinal plants used to treat muscle pain, arthritis, flu, or simply for relaxation.
After lunch, continue walking through rice terraces, rolling hills, and tea plantations, then proceed towards Panhou Retreat.
Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Hike starts at 09:00 after breakfast. The walk begins through a Dao village, where residents in long tunics live in stilt houses built along the mountainside. Continue across terraced rice fields and through bamboo forests.
Stop at a Red Dao house, where the host family welcomes visitors with a cup of local tea. Time to relax before lunch or join the local guide in preparing the meal.
In the afternoon, continue walking to a Tay village in the valley, then follow the river back to Panhou Retreat.

Following breakfast check out before the return drive to Hanoi. Arrive back in Hanoi in the late afternoon.
Notes: From late July to October, mountainous areas (such as Sapa, Mu Cang Chai, Ha Giang, Ba Be and Cao Bang) are at their best with beautiful rice fields. However, seasonal typhoons and heavy rains may cause landslides and itinerary disruptions, requiring flexibility for travel during this period.
