Upon arrival at Udon Thani Airport, you’ll be met by your friendly guide and transferred to your hotel.
In the early evening, you’ll be picked up and taken to Samuay & Sons restaurant to enjoy a welcome dinner prepared by Chef Num. Chef Num gained fame as a celebrity chef in California and has recently returned to Thailand to share his expertise in flavors with your taste buds.
After enjoying your delightful dinner, you’ll return to your hotel in an air-conditioned van.
Overnight in Udon Thani

You’ll be picked up from your hotel at approximately 08:00.
The first stop will be Baan Chiang Village, an archaeological site located in Udon Thani Province. Baan Chiang was discovered in 1957, but major excavations of the site began in the 1970s, uncovering evidence of prehistoric settlements.
Baan Chiang is best known for the beautiful pottery created by the ancient villagers, but many other artifacts have also been discovered, including metals, charcoal, animal bones, and human skeletons
OPTIONAL: During the high season (December–January), you will have the opportunity to take a longtail boat around Nong Harn Kumphawapi Lake to see the blooming red lotuses
En route, you’ll visit Sakon Nakhon, famous for its indigo dye. The beautiful indigo is derived from Indigofera tinctoria, which is grown along the Songkhram River. Take time to soak up the atmosphere of the village and learn about their renowned dyeing techniques before enjoying lunch at a local restaurant.
In the afternoon, if visiting on a Saturday or Sunday, you’ll participate in an indigo craft workshop in Sakon Nakhon. You can get hands-on experience with the dyeing process on hand-woven scarves and handkerchiefs.
After the workshop, you’ll leave the village and make your way to your overnight accommodation. If you’re lucky, you’ll arrive in time to enjoy the sunset over the Khong River in the town of Nakhon Phanom.

Enjoy a relaxing breakfast at the hotel.
After breakfast, you’ll be picked up at around 08:00. The first visit of the day is to Phra That Phanom, a highly revered sacred monument for Thai and Laotian people for centuries.
After exploring this sacred site, you’ll head to the House of Ho Chi Minh in Najok Village, a Thai community of Vietnamese origin. The village holds great historical importance, as President Ho Chi Minh of Vietnam stayed here for seven years during his leadership of the resistance movement against the French.
Lunch will be served at a local restaurant following the morning’s exploration.
After lunch, the rest of the day will be at leisure.
Overnight in Nakhon Phanom

After breakfast, you’ll be picked up at around 08:00.
Upon leaving the hotel, the first visit of the day will be to the Bueng Kan Living Community Museum. Here, you can learn how to make Thai desserts and get hands-on during the process. You’ll also have the opportunity to cook classic Thai dishes such as Pad Thai and prepare banana leaf plates, as well as learn about traditional Thai weaving. In addition to participating in these activities, you’ll gain insight into how these techniques have influenced the local community for centuries.
Lunch will be enjoyed within the community. A local-style meal will be served, reserved in advance.
After lunch, you’ll make your way to your overnight accommodation in Bueng Kan. The rest of the day will be at leisure.
Overnight in Bueng Kan

Enjoy an early breakfast at the hotel.
Before leaving Bueng Kan in the morning, the first visit will be to Wat Phu Tok. Along the way, you’ll make a short stop to see the “Two-Coloured River” in historic Chaiburi.
After the river stop, you’ll arrive at Wat Phu Tok. A 300-meter ascent via a wooden staircase leads to the temple, where you’ll be rewarded with stunning views of the surrounding area and Bueng Kan in the distance.
Once you’ve spent some time taking in the view, you’ll travel by air-conditioned van to the town of Nong Khai, where your accommodation is at a local homestay. Upon arrival, the villagers will offer a warm, traditional welcome before you check in. Spend a relaxing afternoon walking around the village amidst the rice paddies, with plenty of opportunities to interact with locals—whether through conversation or by joining in their daily activities.
Before dinner, you’ll have the opportunity to change into traditional clothing and join the evening Baci Ceremony performed by the villagers. This impressive ceremony serves as a blessing for safe travels, good health, and good luck.
Finally, enjoy a dinner of local specialties shared with the village community.
Overnight at Wang Nam Mok Homestay, Nong Khai

This morning, a local breakfast will be served at your homestay.
After breakfast, slip into traditional clothes and create flower garlands for a morning cultural walk through the village, visiting local temples and famous Buddha images to bless the day. This spiritual experience is followed by a visit to Nam Mok village for an authentic local experience. After enjoying the morning activities, you’ll have lunch in the village before saying “goodbye” to your host family.
This afternoon, you’ll be driven for two and a half hours to Chiang Khan, a small, classic town on the riverbank lined with old-style wooden houses, located by the Mekong River, with Laos visible on the opposite side. Enjoy a boat trip on the Mekong River, where you can observe local riverside life.
Return to the hotel, and the rest of the day is at leisure.
This evening, explore the walking street in the old town of Chiang Khan independently.
Overnight in Pak Chom

Today, you’ll rise very early in the morning to witness the monk alms-giving procession along the street.
Return to the hotel for breakfast.
After breakfast, you’ll continue by van to visit Phra Phutthabat Phu Kwai Ngern Temple, a sacred historical Buddhist site in Chiang Khan, where locals come to worship the footprints of the Lord Buddha and a gigantic white statue. Then, visit nearby Pha Ban Village to observe the local craftsmanship, where villagers create decorative stones and souvenirs from materials gathered from the river.
In the afternoon, visit a local village, Thai Dam Village. Meet the local people and walk around the village to see their traditional way of life.
After exploring this charming village, return to the hotel and relax for the rest of the evening.
Overnight in Pak Chom

Rise early this morning to visit Phu Tok and witness a stunning sunrise over the locally known “sea of mist.”
After the sun has risen and you’ve enjoyed the views, continue your journey to Phu Rua, a nearby mountain. The High Altitude Agricultural Research Station there offers superb panoramic views. Phu Rua's summit is a large plain at 1,365 meters above sea level. After visiting the viewpoint, continue your journey to Loei town. Loei is a more modern town than Chiang Khan but still offers charming local restaurants and cafes to explore.
Lunch and dinner will be served at a local restaurant.
