This morning, be picked up directly at the hotel’s pier by a private Thai retro solar boat. While the boat’s style may appear simple, it is powered in an eco-friendly way using solar energy during the day—a rare sight and an impressive feat of engineering. Sit back and relax on a soft cushion as the boat slowly cruises along the banks of the Chao Phraya River, passing through Bangkok’s historic and charming khlongs. Once a major trading route, these waterways are now lined with wooden shop houses and local temples. The boat continues along Khlong Bang Khuntien until reaching an authentic natural garden and restaurant called Poomjai Garden, tucked away on the canal’s edge.
Owned by a local Thai family, this beautiful garden has a history spanning over 100 years. The family renovated the land into an organic permaculture while preserving rare plants and trees, including a century-old lychee tree. They also collaborate with the nearby community to source fresh ingredients for the restaurant.
Upon arrival at the garden’s pier, be welcomed with a signature local herbal drink and guided by the garden’s owner on a private garden tour. Continue to an exclusive garden zone to participate in a private Thai dessert and snack workshop. The menu features authentic traditional dishes such as Thai coconut balls, rice dumplings in sweet coconut cream, Thai pudding with coconut topping, and Mieng Taling Pling (a traditional Thai hors d’oeuvre with special fruit). The one-hour workshop also includes an exclusive garden tour.

After breakfast at the hotel, be picked up at 08:00 by private electric tuk-tuk and head to a local community called Tha Sala (literally translated as “Pavilion Pier,” though it has nothing to do with an actual pier). After a short ride, the e-tuk-tuk stops at the first destination — Wat Buak Krok Luang, a lesser-known ancient temple known mainly to locals. The temple’s mural paintings are the highlight, and if you look closely, you might spot the charming “Dalmatian” horses depicted in the artwork. You’ll also notice colorful paper flags and lanterns hanging around the entrance of the temple hall.
Hop back into the e-tuk-tuk and continue to the next stop, where you’ll be warmly welcomed by the “7 Saonoi” group. Interestingly, “Saonoi” means “young lady,” but this delightful group is made up of spirited women all over 70 years old — young at heart and full of energy. Join them as they demonstrate how to make traditional paper lanterns, observing the entire process from start to finish. This is not a staged workshop but their actual workspace where they create these beautiful crafts daily.
Next, continue to Wat Don Chan, another fascinating temple known mostly among locals. Hidden within the temple grounds is a Lantern and Tung Workshop, open to both local and international visitors. Here, learn how to create your own handmade piece using traditional techniques while interacting with locals (and sometimes young students) who will happily share their skills and stories. After the 1.5-hour workshop, sign your name and hang your creation on the trees as a personal touch.
Conclude your visit with a private blessing ceremony from a monk at the temple for good fortune and well wishes.
Finally, return to your hotel by private air-conditioned vehicle.
