Itinerary

Welcome to Singapore! After disembarking from the plane at Changi Airport, meet with the Guest Relation Officer at the plane’s airbridge exit. Move through the crowds with ease, as the officer assists with the immigration process, baggage claims and customs clearance. Meet with EXO’s guide in the arrivals hall and transfer to the hotel by private vehicle. 
 
Check in to the hotel and enjoy free time to relax and freshen up. (note: Check in time is 15:00) 
At 18:00 meet with the driver and transfer to The Singapore Flyer, Asia’s largest observation wheel. Situated in the heart of downtown, the Flyer’s fully air-conditioned glass capsules provide mesmerizing views of Marina Bay Sands, Gardens by the Bay, and the captivating city skyline. Enjoy Sky Dining at the Singapore Flyer, a delectable multi-course meal served by an in-flight host throughout the hour-long adventure. The menu showcases a diverse range of international cuisines, ensuring that there is something to satisfy every taste. 
The experience includes two rotations (60 minutes) on the Singapore Flyer in a shared capsule, priority boarding to bypass the queues, the assistance of an in-flight host, a delightful four-course dinner with options such as Western, Oriental, or Vegetarian cuisine. It also includes complimentary admission to the Time Capsule attraction after dinner on the Singapore Flyer.
Transfer back to the hotel around 20:30.

There is time to relax or discover the city before transferring to Woodlands station to embark on a memorable train journey to Malaysia.


Board the striking green and cream carriages of the Eastern & Oriental Express. Settle into your air-conditioned cabin, a sanctuary of cherrywood panelling, Thai silks and Malaysian embroidery. As the train travels through lush, green landscapes, it sets the scene for your immersion into wild Malaysia.


As the train pulls away from the Singapore city limits, admire the passing landscapes of rugged jungle, rubber and palm plantations. The train’s steward will serve afternoon tea in the cabin followed a few hours later by dinner in the Dining Car. Savor the flavors of locally inspired specialties followed by on-board entertainment and a nightcap.

This morning the train continues deeper into Malayia’s wilderness. Enjoy views of the jungle and other scenic vistas while breakfast is served in the cabin.
Following lunch on board, disembark at Merapoh station for an incredible excursion to Taman Negara National Park. The park was formed 130 million years ago and is one of the oldest tropical rainforests in the world.  The dense jungle, wide rivers and lush mountains are home to wildlife ranging from water buffalo to macaques, tapirs to hornbills.
While there, meet with local villagers and organizations who are working to protect critically endangered wild tigers and their habitats. Eastern & Oriental Express has a longstanding partnership with Save Wild Tigers, proudly supporting their efforts.
Returning to the train, an evening of lively celebrations awaits. Enjoy a delicious dinner followed by local entertainment in the Piano Bar Car.

Today the train arrives in Penang Island, Malaysia’s cultural melting pot.  There are several excursions from which to choose. 
The first is a discovery of the culinary art of Peranakan cooking, which begins with visits to a spice shop and traditional grocery stores followed by a hands-on cooking class. 
The second excursion focuses on culture and art, with a visit to Georgetown’s Old Quarter to see stunning temples, a contemporary studio and an opera and puppet house. 
Alternatively, there is the option for independent exploration of Penang with a private trishaw.  The driver will custom the route to fit personal interests, from grand attractions to hidden corners. 
Rejoin the train at Butterworth for lunch and a leisurely afternoon on board.
For the final evening onboard the Eastern & Oriental, enjoy a celebratory dinner complete with irresistible cuisine, entertainment and company. Shortly after midnight, the train passes through Kuala Lumpur, offering opportunities to see the illuminated city skyline.

Enjoy breakfast in the cabin or in the Dining Car. This morning the train travels through Malaysia’s southernmost state of Johor, known for its beaches and rainforest, before crosses the strait to Singapore. 
After disembarking from the Eastern & Oriental, meet with an English-speaking guide and transfer to the hotel for check-in. 
The remainder of today is free at leisure.

After breakfast at the hotel, set out for a full day exploring Singapore with a local guide. 
Meet with the guide and driver at 09:00, driving first through the Civic District, passing by the Padang, Cricket Club, old Parliament House, Supreme Court and City Hall while learning about its history. 
Next, stop at the Merlion Park and enjoy the impressive views of Marina Bay and the iconic Merlion statue, a mythological creature that is part lion and part fish.
Continue to Singapore’s historical Chinatown - a bustling mix of old and new, filled with traditional shops and local markets as well as new artisanal stores and cafes. Visit the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple and Museum and see the rich interior design and comprehensive exhibit on Buddhist art and history with stories of the religion spanning over hundreds of years. 

Visit the National Orchid Garden located within Singapore Botanic Gardens. A UNESCO-listed Heritage Site, the National Orchid Garden boasts a sprawling display of 60,000 orchid plants. It is also home to Singapore’s National Flower, the Vanda Miss Joaquim.
Around midday, transfer to The Intan for a special cultural experience. Nestled in the heart of Joo Chiat, a traditional Peranakan enclave, The Intan stands as a remarkable Peranakan heritage home-museum. Meet with the museum’s founder, Alvin Yapp, for a captivating tour that will reveal the multifaceted facets of Peranakan culture.  Learn about the rare historical artefacts, intriguing personal narratives and rich cultural heritage of the Peranakan community.  
The tour culminates in an authentic Peranakan meal inspired by his mother's culinary prowess. 
At the end of the meal and museum tour, transfer back to the hotel.
