Welcome to Cambodia! Upon arrival in Phnom Penh you will be welcomed by your local English Speaking guide and transferred to your hotel. Please note the standard check-in time is at 14:00. 

Afternoon visit the Royal Palace. This palace dates back to 1866 and was built during the French colonial period. The same complex houses the Silver Pagoda, named for the over 5000 heavy silver tiles that cover its floors. 

(Note: All visitors are required to wear modest clothing: no short pants or short skirts (knees must be covered) and no sleeveless shirts (shoulders must be covered). See-through clothing will also not be allowed.)

Breakfast at the hotel. Drive away from the hustle and bustle of Phnom Penh to a tranquil stretch of riverside. Grab a bicycle, board a ferry boat and cross the Mekong River to Koh Oknha Tei Island. This is a place few tourists venture yet it offers ample opportunity to learn about Cambodian culture. Pedal along quiet lanes to see the island’s lush farmland and charming villages. Stop at a local house and witness the creation of beautiful silk scarves, a specialty of the island.

Cross a small bridge and continue the biking adventure on Koh Dach Island. Pedal northwards through charming villages on the way to a massive sandbank. This spot is a popular gathering place for locals, especially on the weekends. Relax and enjoy the scenery with the river gliding by and the city far off in the distance. Depending on the water level there may be a chance for a refreshing swim in the Mekong River. 

Having worked up an appetite, hop back on the bikes and pedal to a local restaurant for lunch. Then loop back toward the ferry for the return trip to Phnom Penh. (Time: 08:00 – 17:00)

📍 Phnom Penh - Tatai (279 km): 4 hrs 30 mins Boat transfer Tatai to Resort: 20 mins

After breakfast, you will be transferred by your local driver (no guide) to Tatai in Koh Kong (Approx. 4-5 hours). After arriving at Tatai Bridge you will be transferred by shared boat (approximately 20 mins) to tonight’s accommodation, a peaceful retreat with over-water tented villas, set on a quiet bend in the river with the lush Cardamom Mountains as a backdrop.

After breakfast, leave by boat with a local English speaking guide, to cruise deep into the mangroves and experience a rare glimpse of life amongst the fishing communities that live off the natural bounty of this watery paradise.

Drinks will be served en route while cruising down the waterway to a local fishing village to gain insight into local life and meet some shy but friendly people. While the men tend their boats, the women patiently mend the nets and children play amongst the stilted house.

Indulge in a BBQ lunch on the beach after visiting the pagoda, school and a few villagers’ homes. Then hop back in the boat and experience the pure magic of life among the mangroves from the boat and the kayaks before heading back to 4 Rivers’ comfort. Return to the lodge in the afternoon. Dinner will be served at the lodge.

Optional: Tatai Waterfall by boat

Today spend a relaxing day on a private excursion. Away from the tranquility of 4 Rivers Floating Lodge, the thunder of the majestic Tatai Falls reveals the river’s true power as it drops 6 metres to the rocks below. Depending on the tide, the day starts at around 10am for the 45-minute boat ride past Tatai Village to the falls. A local English speaking guide will lead the tour.

Turning on to a tributary, head into the heart of the Cardamom jungle to the far-off sounds of exotic birds and its secretive wildlife. Within minutes, arrive at the end point gazing down into the turbulent waters of the falls. Soon it’s time for the picnic lunch, maybe a few moments hydro-massage and a refreshing drink. Then relax under some shade for a picnic and relax amongst the sights and sounds of the jungle. Kayaks are available for the last stretch to add some fun and adventure or simply stay on board the boat.

On the return to the lodge in the late afternoon. Spend the rest of the afternoon at leisure to relax or do some more kayaking or fishing from the tent platform. (L included). (Note: Subject to boat and guide availability, from November to April, pre-booking is necessary at least 2days beforehand)

Optional: Greet the Neighbours (a walk into Khmers’ life)

Koh Andet is the island located directly across from the floating tent. Formerly a refuge from the Khmer Rouge, today the island is home to a dozen farming families. On this popular excursion which lasts 1-2 hours, or more enjoy while accompanied by a local English speaking guide and interact with the locals while walking and cycling around the island. Take the time to ask the villagers about their daily life which revolves around harvesting and fishing. (Note: Subject to guide availability, from November to April, pre-booking is necessary at least 2days beforehand)

After breakfast, check out and the shared boat will bring you to the main land, where your transfer to the Thai border at Ban Hat Lek and guide is waiting for you (transfer 30 mins).

After clearing the custom at Cambodia – Thai border at Ban Had Lek, meet with local representative for land transfer to Trad and Koh Chang

Then continue with scheduled join ferry to Koh Chang, and take a local transportation to the hotel.

After clearing the custom at Cambodia – Thai border at Ban Had Lek, meet with local representative for land transfer to Trad.

OPTIONAL ACTIVITY: Boat Trip – 5 Islands  

We will bring you by local taxi to Bang Bao fishing village in the south end of Koh Chang. This day offers you the absolute best snorkeling places ever close to Koh Chang. With a slow boat to the area of Koh Rang. Here, you will visit the coral islands of Koh Yak, Koh Lie and Koh Thong for snorkeling. Before lunch, we will visit the beautiful beach of Koh Rang. You will be served a nice buffet on the boat for lunch and the staff will later make you a BBQ. On the way back, we will visit the beautiful island of Koh Wai. In the afternoon, the boat will bring us back to Koh Chang again. (L)
