Rompin Rainforest Adventure

📍 Kuala Lumpur to Taman Negeri Rompin: 330km (5 hours) Malacca to Taman Negeri Rompin: 280km (4h20min)

Today’s tour departs from your Kuala Lumpur hotel at 08:00 and involves a 5-hour journey to either Rompin State Park or Malacca.

Upon reaching Rompin State Park, you will proceed with the check-in process at the resort and have the opportunity to rest and relax.

Note:  Standard check-in time:  after 1400 hrs.

After settling in and taking some time to relax at the resort in Rompin State Park, you will then proceed with a guided Nightfall Tour. (duration: approx. 2 hours).

Despite the darkness, the night offers just as much fascination as the day, and a guided walk by our enthusiastic guide will reveal the intriguing nocturnal creatures inhabiting the forest, such as hunting spiders, roosting birds, and various mammals. Keep a watchful eye out for the distinctive Colugo, or Flying Lemur, which is endemic to Southeast Asia and holds the title of the world's best glider.

Breakfast.

0900 hrs.  Depart for a guided Jeram Panjang Trekking adventure (duration:  approx. 2 hours)

Flowing from Sungai Kinchin with moderate water flow and excellent water quality, Jeram Panjang is a long river perfect for leisure activities, and visitors can also take part in Jeram Panjang Trekking, which follows the path of elephants and allows for glimpses of their traces. After arriving at Jeram Panjang, the guide will lead visitors across the rapids to the refreshing, clear waters of Sungai Kernam for a swim.

Recommended attire:  long sleeves shirt, long pants, leech socks, hat, good sun protection, insect repellent and rain coat.

Return to the resort.

During the afternoon, you will have free time to explore the park on your own. You can visit various attractions such as Makhota Waterfall, the Watch Tower, Suspension Bridge, Rainforest Discovery Centre, and other points of interest within the park. Feel free to immerse yourself in the natural beauty and discover the park's unique features at your own pace.

Bird Walk (Duration:  approx. 3 hours)

Time:  0900 hrs.

Level: Easy

Considered to be one of the most important IBA (Important Bird and Biodiversity Area) site in the southern part of peninsular Malaysia for the international conservation of bird populations, Rompin State Park is home to 253 species of birds! The richness of the flora available in the park has attracted bird species to call this place home and is capable of sustaining the variety of bird life. This activity is not just for bird enthusiasts, but for beginners too who want to dive into the world of birds. Some of the “star” birds include Crested Partridge, Lesser Fish-eagle, Great Slaty Woodpecker, and the rare Black-and-white Bulbul.  Guests are encouraged to bring their own binoculars.

Kayaking and Swimming (Duration:  approx. 3 hours)

Time:  0900 hrs.                  

Level: Easy to moderate

Paddle upstream the Kinchin River to enjoy the untouched scenery of Rompin State Park. Along the way visitors will see tall tropical trees bordering the river banks, and those lucky enough may spot hornbills, eagles and monkeys roaming and foraging along the waterways. Upon arrival at Lubuk Duit, visitors will have the option of swimming among clear water rapids.

Recommended Attire : Advisable to wear dry-fit clothes including long-sleeve shirts, long pants, swimwear, wet shoes, hats, good sun protection and raincoat, waterproof bag for camera and phone.

Sungai Kernam Forest Therapy (Duration:  approx. 4 hours)

Time:  0900 hrs             

Level: Moderate

While it may be the longest trekking trail of all guided activities offered, this is one of the most rewarding. This jungle trekking activity of moderate level difficulty brings you to an unanticipated river known as Sungai Kernam. The bath in the crystal-clear water acts as a cure for our exhausting walk through the dense forest of Rompin State Park.

Recommended Attire: Advisable to bring insect repellent, wear dry-fit clothes including long-sleeve shirts, long pants, swimwear, wet shoes, hats, good sun protection, raincoat, waterproof bag for camera and phone.

Padang Tujuh Hiking (Duration:  approx. 4 hours)

Time:  0900 hrs                                                          Level: Moderate to difficult

** Require permit application, advance booking require 7 days prior to departure

The hike to Padang Tujuh takes you to unique scenery with different vegetation starting with tall dipterocarp tree species dominated by Pokok Kapur that looks like broccoli from afar. Going further up, the trail leads us to the spectacular palm forest including the endemic species; Livistonia endauensis. Once reached Padang Tujuh, the dry heath forest welcomes with stunted bonsai trees, pitcher plants and wild orchids.

1200 hrs.  After lunch, you will proceed with the transfer back to either Kuala Lumpur or Malacca, depending on your chosen destination.
