This immersive three-day journey unveils the less-explored side of Sarawak, Malaysian Borneo. Guests will venture into the cultural heartlands of the Iban, cruise along crocodile-inhabited rivers, explore colonial forts, and trek into a national park to spot rare primates. From longhouse stays to historical landmarks and untamed nature, this is Sarawak beyond the guidebooks.
Be picked up from their city hotel at 8:00 AM for a 3.5-hour overland transfer to Lingga Jetty, with a brief stop in Sri Aman. From the jetty, they will board a shallow-draft longboat to cruise along a river known for its crocodile population. If conditions are right, guests may witness the unique tidal bore phenomenon.
Upon arrival in Banting, visit one of Sarawak’s oldest Anglican churches, established in 1859. Explore the surrounding Iban villages and a remote primary school serving a small community of students. This is a rare chance to observe the rhythms of daily life in the interior.
In the evening, guests will enjoy a traditional dinner prepared by their hosts, which may include local river shrimp, followed by an overnight stay in a longhouse. Accommodations are simple and authentic, with mattresses on the floor inside a host family’s unit.

After breakfast, say farewell to their hosts and return to Lingga by longboat. Upon arrival in Sri Aman, the group will visit Fort Lily, a relic from the Brooke era offering glimpses into Sarawak’s colonial history.
The journey continues with a 2-hour drive to Betong, and explore the Rian Batang longhouse. Here, view ancestral heirlooms and learn more about Iban culture. The day continues with a transfer to Maludam (approximately 2 hours).
Arriving in the evening, be welcomed at a local homestay and enjoy a home-cooked dinner.

After breakfast, guests will take a 2-hour boat journey into Maludam National Park. This park is home to proboscis monkeys and the rare red-banded langur, which can be spotted among the mangrove and peat swamp forests.
The return journey to Kuching begins with an overland transfer of approximately 2.5 hours, including crossing a 1.48-kilometre bridge and a 2.8-kilometre ferry ride. A stop at a local market offers guests the opportunity to enjoy a local lunch and taste regional specialties.
Arrival at the Kuching city hotel is expected between 3:00 PM and 4:00 PM.
