Home to the black crested gibbon, traces of traditional agriculture can be seen alongside the road running from Thailand to China. Here, there lies one of the most pristine forests in Laos that is home to a haven of rare wildlife and Lao’s largest treehouses.

The people behind the Gibbon Experience have built the world’s highest tree houses to create an up close experience in an environment surrounded by gibbons. They actively find social and economic alternatives to protect the black crested gibbon and the park’s wildlife. Hundreds of ethnic people who live in the forest now make a living from this conservation project. Some of the oldest existing trees of Southeast Asia are in this reserve.

To access the canopy, the Gibbon Experience have created a low-tech, safe and easy way to ascend the tree tops that take advantage of the natural slope of the terrain. Guests are warmly welcomed by staff and other visitors. All the tree houses are accessible this way.

Participating in the Gibbon Experience helps to protect the Nam Kan National Park and gives back to the local community.
