Upon arrival at Maumere, be welcomed by a local English-speaking guide and proceed to a local restaurant for lunch.

Following lunch, continue to visit Koka Beach for some scenic relaxation followed by a drive to Moni, a small settlement at the foot of the volcanic Mount Kelimutu. 

Wrap the day up with dinner at the hotel and spend the rest of the evening enjoying the charming ambience of Moni.

After an early wake-up call at around 04:00, proceed to the mysterious Mount Kelimutu to discover one of the most amazing natural phenomena in Flores. Kelimutu consists of three uniquely coloured lakes of brilliant aquamarine, ochre red and chocolate brown. Over the years, the three crater lakes have often changed colours. While a scientific reason for the colour changes may be the varying mineral content of the lakes, local people strongly believe that the three lakes are gathering places of ancestral spirits, with each colour relating to different types of spirits.

Note: Easy access with a 30-minute walk from the parking area of the Kelimutu National Park.

After observing this stunning natural phenomenon, drive back to the hotel in Moni for breakfast and spend some time changing and packing. Check-out and continue the journey towards Riung Village. Make stops along the way towards at Nduria’s bustling fruit and vegetable market and Saga, a traditional Lionese village.

Leave Saga behind and continue towards Ndona Ikat Weaving Village, where lunch is served at a local restaurant.

After lunch, the next stop is Blue Stone Beach in the Nangapanda area. Take a walk along this unique blue-pebble beach and be sure to snap a few photos. Then, continue to Riung for a late-afternoon arrival.

Enjoy dinner at the hotel and spend the rest of the night in Riung.

After breakfast at the hotel, travel to 17 Islands National Park for a boat trip and incredible some snorkelling. The 17 Island Sea Garden is an untouched underwater paradise where lightblue waters envelop clusters of paradisiacal atolls, providing a quiet and peaceful surrounding for a multitude of colourful fish.

Enjoy a barbeque picnic for lunch and continue to Nangamese Harbour near the tiny islands of Pulau Rutong and Pulau Bukit Tiga. Be amazed by the last excursion of the day, as the Kalong mangroves are famous for its giant bats or ‘flying foxes’. Head back for an afternoon spent at leisure, with dinner and overnight stay at the hotel

πŸ“ Distance and journey time: Riung – Manggeruda Hot Spring (45 km): one hour 30 minutes Manggeruda Hot Spring – Ngada Village (15 km): 15 minutes Ngada Village – Bajawa (12 km): 25 minutes.

Travel to Bajawa, a small and quiet town surrounded by mountains in the middle of Flores. Along the way, enjoy scenic views over the southern coast of Flores and its beautiful mountainous landscapes. Amidst the fields of macadamia trees, find the So’a Hot Spring for an optional healthy bath. Continue the trip onwards to Bajawa.

Enjoy a lunch at a local restaurant, and stop at Wogo for an impression of authentic Ngada village life. Wogo features some impressive ancestral stones as well, plus some typical Ngadhu and Bhaga shrines representing the ancestors of this clan. 

Upon arrival in Bajawa, check in to the hotel and look forward to a dinner either served at the hotel or a local restaurant.

πŸ“ Bajawa – Ruteng (140 km): 5 hours

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel, and continue with a visit to a bamboo plantation offering majestic views over Mount Inerie. Continue to Luba, another traditional Ngada village and walk to Bena, the most impressive of all Ngada villages. Featuring its stone megaliths beside ancient houses, this tribal community also overlooks Mount Inerie.

Lunch is served at a local restaurant. Afterwards, proceed to Ruteng City. Make a stop at a local arak factory near Aimere and see how the locals produce this typical alcoholic drink. Also stop to take a look at Ranamese Lake and relax for a while on its black sandy beaches.

Eventually, make it to Ruteng, which is the largest rice-producing area of Flores and is famous for its Indonesian coffee. Located at around 1,100 metres above sea level, these volcanic highlands produce a great cup of coffee.

Enjoy dinner at a local restaurant and spend the night in an old Catholic convent.

πŸ“ Ruteng – Dintor (70 km): three hours driving Trekking from Denge to Waerebo: four hours uphill trekking

Enjoy a breakfast at the hotel, and continue to Dintor via Iteng. Take in the beautiful panoramic views, villages and rice fields along this scenic three-hour drive.

Lunch is either served at a lodge in Dintor or in Denge.

With a boost of energy following lunch, start hiking uphill through the rainforest to reach Wae Rebo, which should take around four hours. Encounter a creek after about an hour for a first stop to enjoy the natural pools. The second stop at Pocoroko offers panoramic views of the south and a stunning ocean view.  Continue on to the next stop at at Nampe Bakok, with a rewarding view over the traditional village of Waerebo.

Be welcomed in Waerebo by a charismatic village elder who is entitled to welcome all guests travelling to the village.

Spend the rest day exploring this unique community and experience the local way of life. Enjoy an authentic stay-over at one of the villager’s homes and fall asleep after a day of trekking.

πŸ“ Trekking from Waerebo to Denge: four hours downhill trekking Denge to Labuan Bajo (154 km): Approximately five hours

After a well-deserved breakfast, spend some time in the village before walking down to Denge, along the same trail from the day before. Enjoy the views  once more while heading down to the parking lot where the car and driver are waiting. Board the car for a drive to Labuan Bajo, with a lunch en route at Denge Guesthouse.

Depending on the condition of the roads, the drive continues after lunch through either Dintor or Nangalili, with a final arrival at Labuan Bajo in the late afternoon.

The adventure begins with a morning transfer to Labuan Bajo port, followed by boarding a speedboat for an exciting day cruise through Komodo National Park. 

The first destination is Padar Island, where a short trek rewards you with panoramic views from the island’s summit. Continued to Komodo Island, It was founded in 1980 to protect the Komodo dragon, the world's largest lizard, and also became a protected marine habitat due to the unusually high levels of biodiversity in the coral reefs that surround the island. Because of its unique stature as a center for wildlife, Komodo National Park has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. A local park ranger will guide on a trek, sharing fascinating insights into the island’s ecosystem and wildlife, including wild horses, buffalo, and pigs.

Next, head to the iconic Pink Beach, to snorkel or relax on its unique sands and marvel at vibrant marine life and corals. Afterward, sail to Manta Point for an exhilarating snorkeling experience amidst gentle manta rays, then make your way to Rinca Island. Here, in the savanna landscape, observe more Komodo dragons, buffalo, and wild pigs, with another ranger-led trek. 

Conclude an unforgettable day with a scenic cruise back to Labuan Bajo port, and return to the hotel for a relaxing evening.
