Arrive at Ngurah Rai International Airport in Denpasar, be greeted by the local travel guide and receive a private transfer to the town of Ubud. Located in the island’s geographic heart, Ubud is also the center of culture and arts.

After breakfast at the hotel, be picked up by the driver and tour guide.  Drive towards Bedugul, an area of the central highlands that is famous for its stunning beauty and three lakes. Visit the royal Taman Ayun Temple in Mengwi, and take a look at its unique multi-roofed architecture which was built in 1634 to serve as the family temple of the Mengwi dynasty. Admire this stunning piece of historic architecture, surrounded by a moat with multi–roofed meru shrines and intricately carved wooden gates.

Continue the road and then take a light, one-hour trek through Jatiluwih’s rice fields, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Enjoy the endless views of verdant rice terraces and learn about the traditional techniques used by Bali’s farmers to irrigate the crops and produce rice.

Stop for lunch at the Bamboo Forest restaurant.

Proceed the afternoon  to Bedugul Bali Handara Kosaido Country Club. The terrain is perched at 1142 metres above the sea level and is surrounded by mountains, crater lakes and ancient forest - a breathtaking setting for a golf course. This 18-hole championship course was designed by Peter Thompson, Michael Wolferidge & Associates. Enjoy the surroundings and tee off!

Be ready for an Ubud culinary experience in the early evening. Embark on a culinary journey of Ubud in a vintage VW convertible, and begin the evening with a sunset over Sayan Valley. Stop at a wonderful house with a lawn atop the valley, sip a cocktail and enjoy Japanese-Latin fusion cuisine tapas while the cicadas begin to sing in the dusk. As the evening calls, go on a short ride to Ubud centre. Continue to the fine dining restaurant over the Campuhan river then choose from several main dishes Celebrate the end of this evening with a tasting session of sweet delicacies.

There is the choice between either heading back to the hotel for the night or remaining in the area to further explore independently.

Check-out after breakfast and visit Pura Gunung Kawi. Set amid lush rice terraces in the village of Tampaksiring, the 11th-century temple can only be accessed by a series of staircases. The effort is worth it, arriving at the top to admire a series of ten shrines carved directly into a cliff face. See elements of Hindu and Buddhist architecture, learning from the guide about the significance of the temple and its carvings. Continue to nearby Pura Tirta Empul, a popular water temple for local devotees. Discover why water is such an important element in Balinese Hindu culture, listen to how it is used as a holy medium at special ceremonies. Then, soak in Tirta Empul’s cool spring water, with the water pouring from the numerous fountains that fill the pools.

Following lunch in Mas, drive on more scenic roads to Nusa Dua. Visit Museum Pasifika, displaying a variety of artworks and cultural artefacts from the Asian Pacific region. It includes more than 600 pieces from 200 artists of 25 countries. The museum has a number of galleries with permanent and changing exhibitions. It aims to communicate not only the perceptions of foreign artists travelling to this area of the world, but to serve also as showcase of the cultural “melting pot” originating from such exchanges.

Note: the museum is open daily from 9am to 5pm

Later this afternoon, check in at the beach hotel.

Cruise away from Lombok to the sparsely inhabited three Gili Islands. Be surrounded by turquoise waters and breathtaking views as the boat makes its way toward Gili Meno, the least developed of the three Gili islands. Go ashore and climb into a cidomo, a horse cart that is the main form of transportation on the island. Travel down the island’s laneways, passing small eateries and clusters of local houses. Enjoy the quiet rhythm of island life as the horse cart makes its way to a coconut farm. Stop to sample a refreshing drink and watch the farmers harvest fresh coconuts.

Continue to the island’s western shores, home to some of the best Gili snorkelling experiences. Grab a mask and snorkel and jump into the warm water to explore the colourful underwater world. Swim above the impressive coral gardens, seeing schools of tropical fish and, with a bit of luck, sea turtles too.

At noon continue by boat to Gili Air, where lunch is served at a relaxed beachfront eatery and the beautiful blue ocean and white sand beach just in front. Relax on the beach, spending the afternoon chilling out and swimming in the clear waters.

Cruise back to the mainland in the late afternoon.
