The journey begins with an early morning departure from Cairo, travelling west across the desert towards the Mediterranean coast. In Marsa Matrouh, a stop is made at the Second World War Old Cemetery and the nearby Military Museum, offering a glimpse into the region’s role during the North African campaign of the war. 

After lunch at a local fish restaurant, the route continues inland across the desert landscapes to the remote Siwa Oasis. Upon arrival, check in at the hotel and settle in for an overnight stay.

The day begins with an exploration of Siwa’s historic landmarks. Visits include the Temple of Amun, once a significant pilgrimage site in antiquity, and Gebel El Mawta, or the Mountain of the Dead, where ancient rock-cut tombs overlook the oasis. 

Following lunch at a local restaurant, the afternoon continues with a stop at Cleopatra’s Bath, a well known natural spring surrounded by palm groves. Later, travel to Abu Shrouf to enjoy views of the vast desert landscape and witness a memorable sunset before returning to the hotel for the evening.

In the morning, discover the heart of Siwa with a visit to the 13th century Shali Fortress, once the fortified centre of the oasis, followed by the Oracle Temple of Alexander the Great, famed for the legendary visit of the Macedonian ruler. 

After lunch, the adventure continues with a 4X4 desert safari into the sweeping dunes of the Great Sand Sea, reaching Bir Wahed. Time is spent enjoying the crystal clear waters of the Salt Lakes and relaxing in the natural hot springs of Siwa. As the day draws to a close, head to Ein Fetnas to watch the sunset over the oasis before returning for dinner.

An early morning departure from Siwa begins the return journey towards the Mediterranean coast. In Marsa Matrouh, stop at Agiba Beach, known for its striking cliffs, turquoise waters and natural caves. The visit continues to the cave that once served as a hideout for German Field Marshal Erwin Rommel during the Second World War. 

After lunch in Marsa Matrouh, the drive continues back to Cairo, arriving at the hotel in the late afternoon.
