Itinerary

📍 Siem Reap - Kulen mountain (41km): 55 min

Depart from the hotel in Siem Reap at 08:00 with a local guide for Kulen mountain, considered the birthplace of the Angkor Empire and a sacred place for the Khmer. 

At the summit of Phnom Kulen, pause at Poeng Ta Kho cliff to take in sweeping views of the surrounding landscape. Continue to the River of a Thousand Lingas to observe ancient stone carvings in the riverbed, followed by a visit to Wat Preah Ang Thom, home to a large 16th-century reclining Buddha, and several hidden pagodas scattered across the plateau.

Next, transfer to a cosy homestay nestled amidst the beauty of Phnom Kulen. After arriving at the homestay, take a moment to relax before enjoying a home-cooked lunch. This is an opportunity to connect with the family, ask questions and gain a deeper understanding of Cambodian life and culture.

In the afternoon, set out on a guided trek to reach the remarkable Kulen waterfall. Depending on water flow, there may be an opportunity to enjoy a refreshing dip beneath the cascading waters, the perfect way to rejuvenate after a forest trek.

Notes: 
-    Trekking distance is 3 km, the path is easy and we recommend wearing comfortable shoes (depending on the season the path may be slippery).

Beginning at 08:00, visit a lesser-known area of Phnom Kulen with a local ranger by motorbike. 

Explore remote archaeological sites hidden within the forest, including ancient kilns, Srah Damrei and Damrei Krab. Discover stone carvings such as the life-size elephant statue believed to guard the mountain, along with smaller animal figures of lions, a cow and frog carved centuries ago during the early Khmer Empire. 

Return to the homestay for lunch and time to rest. The afternoon is free to relax, enjoy the surroundings. 

Dinner and overnight at the homestay.

Notes
-    For the motorbike experience, a helmet will be provided and is mandatory to wear. Guests are also required to sign a liability waiver form. We recommend wearing long trousers and applying insect repellent.
-    Not available for children under 12 years old.

Breakfast at the homestay. 

Then wander through the village to see family farms growing mountain herbs and local black pepper. Return to the homestay for leisure until check out time (the standard check-out time is at 12:00) before being transferred back to Siem Reap.
