Itinerary

📍 Techo International Airport - Hotel (26 km): 60 mins

Upon arrival in Techo International Airport, you will be welcomed by your local English speaking guide, who will accompany you to your hotel for check in (Normally check-in time is at 14:00).

After a relaxing break, gain insight into Cambodia’s recent dark history on a visit to the remarkable Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum, housed in the former school that was taken over by the Khmer Rouge and used as its main detention and torture center named ‘S-21’. 

Late afternoon, enjoy an atmospheric sunset river cruise and watch how Phnom Penh’s popular riverfront comes to life in the early evening, with a coconut juice degustation on board.

This morning, you will be continued to the most remarkable sights of Phnom Penh in a Cyclo, an original Phnom Penh means of transportation and a fun way to explore this lively city.

First, head to Royal Palace, this palace dates back to 1866 and houses the Silver Pagoda, named for the over 5000 heavy silver tiles that cover its floors. Its original name is Wat Prakeo, meaning Temple of the Emerald Buddha. In this temple you will view a collection of Buddhas in gold, silver, crystal, and bronze.

Your next stop is the National Museum, built in traditional Khmer style. It houses the world's foremost collection of ancient Khmer artistic, archaeological, and religious artefacts from the 4th to the 13th centuries. Over 5,000 pieces are on display, constituting the repository of the Kingdom's cultural wealth. In addition, the roof space is home to a large bat colony!

Then visit Wat Phnom temple, the founding place of the city on a small hilltop. 

Lunch in a local restaurant before returning to your hotel for a short break. 

This evening, get picked by Remork, a Cambodian tuk-tuk, for a night to remember. Start off the night at a chic bar for cocktails and kick off an evening of dining and exploring Phnom Penh. After cocktails, hop back into the Remork and join the locals in the bustling street traffic.  The next stop is a popular local restaurant with a charming atmosphere and welcoming Khmer hospitality. Try some delectable local cuisine, including lemongrass chicken and eggplant with pork, sharing the Khmer style with a beer or soft drink.  After enjoying your meal, hop back to Remork and visit a fresh market. 

Along the way to your elegant after-dinner cocktail venue, ride past some of the famous sights of French-colonial Phnom Penh. Next up: drinks at one of Cambodia’s most legendary watering holes. Note: while there is no dress code, you may feel more comfortable wearing a smart-casual outfit.

Zoom through the city lights once again, headed for a popular spot amongst locals for live music and late night dining. With a mix of top Cambodian songs and foreign rock hits, you’re bound to stay entertained as you sample some exotic local delicacies, such as spicy frog and beef with ants. After stopping off at one more iconic city landmark along the way, finish the evening at a charming street of small, hip bars for cocktails or a cold beer.

📍 Phnom Penh – Oudong Hill (37 km): 01 hour

Escape from the busy city of Phnom Penh with a trip to Oudong Mountain. Climb 509 steps to the top of Oudong Mountain for magnificent views over the plains below. Learn more about its history and the local culture before descending down a different path to the base of Oudong mountain.

After working up an appetite, it is time for lunch. Enjoy a meal of local dishes served at a popular picnic site. There are hammocks strung around the site so there is the option to be truly Khmer and enjoy a post-meal nap! 

Before returning to Phnom Penh visit the Vipassana Dhura Buddhist Meditation Center. Then hit the road for the drive back to Phnom Penh. On the way visit Kompong Luong to see how the skilled craftsmen use traditional techniques to create beautiful silver cups, bowls and other items.  Return to the modern capital in the late afternoon.

After some break, around 6:30pm get a closer look at Cambodia’s creative spirits scene with a captivating tour and tasting experience at Mawsim, Phnom Penh's pioneering craft gin distillery. 

Step inside the hidden bar and meet with one of Mawsim’s expert distillers for a behind the scenes tour.  Learn about and observe the ingenious process of transforming Cambodia’s invasive water hyacinth plant into a unique gin. This innovative, sustainable process results in a distinct, high-quality gin that garnered Mawsim the prestigious 2023 World Gin Award!

Conclude the distillery tour with a tasting experience. Sample four distinct gins and learn about the source of their unique flavours, gaining a deeper appreciation of Mawsim’s quality and craftsmanship. Finally, choose two handcrafted cocktails from their enticing menu to truly savour the magic of Mawsim. 

After the drinks, return to the hotel or continue to the next destination.
