ineage spanning over 300 years, Kobayashiya is a cornerstone of Kinosaki Onsen’s hospitality. Housed in a rare three-story wooden structure designated as a Registered Tangible Cultural Property, the inn underwent a transformative renovation in 2023 led by the renowned Suppose Design Office. This project successfully balanced the preservation of historic elements with contemporary aesthetic refinements, including a minimalist lobby finished in textured earthen plaster. The inn’s 10 rooms are divided into "Historic" and "Standard" categories, all designed to offer an immersive sensory experience. While guests are provided with passes to Kinosaki’s seven famous Sotoyu (public bathhouses), the inn offers three private on-site baths: Wabi, Sabi, and Yugen. These communal-style private baths are available to guests without a reservation, providing a serene, architectural space to enjoy the town's mineral-rich waters. The inn's central location, just steps from the iconic Ichino-yu bath, makes it an ideal starting point for the traditional yukata stroll through the town's historic core.Note: As of April 2024, the property operates as an adult-oriented retreat and does not accommodate children under the age of 10.
