My Son Tour - Half Day
Today’s tour will begin at 08:30 or alternative at 14:00. Leave the tourist centre of Hoi An behind for a My Son half day guided tour in the countryside.
The first stop is in Phuoc Kieu, a 500-year old village specializing in bronze casting. Walk around the interesting alleys oozing with charm and see local temples dedicated to ancestor worship. Then visit a workshop where bells, gongs, vases and other bronze items are crafted using traditional techniques.
Carry on to the cultural highlight of Central Vietnam, the temple complex at My Son. Granted UNESCO World Heritage status in 1999, the tower temples were the seat of the Champa Kingdom for most its existence between the 4th and 13th centuries. Wander around the crumbling ruins, hearing about the Cham culture, its rulers and their impressive reign. Take a moment to soak up the serene atmosphere and imagine what My Son was like in its heyday.
Before departing the site, visit a small museum that has some interesting displays about the Cham era. Then return to the car for the drive back to Hoi An, arriving around midday for more touring, shopping or relaxing.
