Vietnam wakes early! Walk through the lesser-known parts of the Old Quarter and learn about the history of Hanoi through tales told by the guide on this morning's experience. Get acquainted with local Hanoians and admire their love for Vietnam, its history and its culture through music.
Programme Details
Depart early at 0730 in order to see the vibrance of the morning.
Embark on a journey through Hanoi's eyes with a local guide. Stroll around Hoan Kiem Lake, savoring its tranquil atmosphere while the city comes to life. Linger at a popular corner where locals gather to peruse "standing newspapers," a vestige of a bygone era when newspapers were delivered door-to-door, even during the city’s darkest days.
Continue exploring the city’s unique vibes and marvel at its chaotic-yet-efficient traffic patterns which have rightfully become legendary. Then, stop for a visit to a small tea shop and enjoy a brief introduction to learn about the importance of drinking tea in Vietnamese society.
Next, escape the bustling streets and to a hidden alley in Hanoi’s Old Quarter. Visit the tiny home of a musician and a family who have dedicated their lives to the single-string dan bau. Hear their life stories and discover a love for their traditional music that goes back generations. Continue back to the hotel or next destination, late morning.
