Programme Details
Today’s tour will begin at 8:30. Set off on a fabulous local day tour of Hanoi. Transfer to the capital’s south to a suburb still undiscovered by tourists and oozing with local culture and charm.
Start with a visit to a small, typical market. In this tiny, crowded maze of stalls discover all manner of seafood products, fish, meat, fresh fruits and vegetables, as well as many other products for sale.
From here wander the very narrow alleyways on foot– a great way to explore and experience the sights, smells and sounds of daily life for Hanoian residents. Enjoy a coffee break next to a small lake in a typical Vietnamese area, learning from the guide about daily life in the city. Then continue wandering through these hidden laneways, passing by a beautiful pagoda where monks often come to pray and an historic temple.
Reach a typical Hanoian home for a nice home-cooked lunch with a welcoming local family. The friendly hosts will be pleased to share tales of their daily life.
After lunch, continue walking through the labyrinth of streets up to a beautiful lake. Discover what is perhaps Hanoi’s quirkiest local market – rarely visited and somewhat secretive, but guaranteed to be interesting.
Having explored a truly local side of Hanoi, return to the hotel with time to relax and freshen up before dinner. (L)
