Go backward up to the North of Thu Bon, “The Mother River” of Quang Nam Province, from Cua Dai estuary and let it show you how it has been feeding its people for a thousand years. Follow the countryside roads off the beaten tracks, explore the hidden handicraft villages and have a deep touch to local people’s life.
Programme Details
Today's 2-wheeled pedal adventure begins at 08:00 with a short drive from Hoi An Ancient Town to Thanh Ha Pottery village. Upon arrival, take a short stroll around the charming village before mounting the bike for the ride to Cam Kim Island across the bridge.
Depending on the season (from February to May and from June-July to September), you may see golden paddy fields during harvest season or verdant groves of jute along the banks. Arrive at Kim Bong carpentry village, the home of many talented craftsmen.
Their ancestors built the merchant houses, temples, pagodas, and assembly houses in the town of Hoi An. After walking around the village to see how locals use a variety of techniques, including hand carving, lacquering and inlay work, take a short break at a local coffee shop before hopping on the bike again to the next stop.
Continue cycling along the scenic countryside view to a local house where they make mats from sedge grass following traditional methods. See the way locals manage to keep their traditional occupation in a modern and constantly evolving time.
Stop along the way to see the local fishermen doing their fishing by traditional technique. End the trip with a simple yet friendly home-hosted lunch.
Following the meal, relax on a river boat for around 30 minutes whilst you cruise up the Thu Bon River. Once back on land, transfer back to your hotel or the next destination arriving around 1400.
