You will be picked up at 08:00. Be ‘wowed’ by mother nature on this fabulous Mae Hong Son tour to the Tham Lod cave.

Travel through the countryside from Mae Hong Son to reach the entrance of Tham Lod cave. This cave contains a one-kilometre-long underwater stream, so climb aboard a bamboo raft and let the adventure begin. The guide will paddle the raft deeper into the cave using hand-held lanterns to show the way. Stop to explore the incredible stalagmites and stalactites, which form unusual shapes. Continue through the eerily quiet cave to an excavation site. See the remains of teak coffins, evidence of the cave’s ancient past used as a burial site.

Emerge back into the light of day and head to a local restaurant for lunch. The adventure continues this afternoon with a drive to Tham Pla or ‘Fish Cave’. Walk to the mouth of the cave, crossing a narrow suspension bridge to reach a small pool that is fed by an underground stream. Take a close look at the pool to see dozens of massive fish, reaching up to one-metre in length. Learn about these unusual fish and hear why the locals revere this species of carp.

There is one more stop on this Mae Hong Son tour. Visit Pha Sua Waterfall, the most beautiful fall in the region. Admire the views of the 30-metre wide falls and the stunning surroundings.

As the day comes to a close, return to Mae Hong Son in time to freshen up before dinner. (L)
