Venture to Thailand’s northern corners and explore the Golden Triangle. Travel by boat along the Mekong River to where the borders of Thailand, Myanmar, and Laos converge and go ashore to see the ancient ruins of charming Chiang Saen.
Pick up at either 08:00 or 13:00. Spend half a day exploring the Golden Triangle in northern Thailand. Start with a visit to Mae Sai, the bustling trading town on the Thai-Myanmar border, and get a glimpse of the differences between the two cultures. Then, continue on to Sop Ruak, the site where the borders of Thailand, Myanmar, and Laos converge, thus forming the ‘Golden Triangle.’
To get a closer look at the borders of these neighboring countries, board a motorboat and cruise onto the waters of the Mekong River. Pass by local transport boats, fishermen, and other river scenes while also enjoying views of the small villages along the banks of the Mekong.
Before returning to town, head to Chiang Saen, once the capital of the Lanna Kingdom (A.D. 1260). Visit its impressive ruins and historic temples while uncovering the rich history of the region. This insightful tour comes to a close with a scenic drive back to town.
