Take a short drive from the Thai capital to be confronted with one of the world's most fascinating UNESCO world heritage sites, Ayutthaya. On arrival you will get the chance to take it easy and relax on the peaceful river Noi and take in some of the sites from the river. Food is never far away in Thailand and after the cruise you’ll be served a traditional Thai lunch in beautiful surroundings. Finally explore the ancient ruins, fascinating local markets and royal history of the province that was once the capital of Thailand.
You will be picked up at 07:00. Explore Thailand's ancient capital and cultural heartlands by boat and tuk-tuk with this absorbing Ayutthaya day trip. The day begins with a morning drive, approximately 1.20 hours, from Bangkok to the UNESCO World Heritage-listed city of Ayutthaya.
Upon arrival the pier Suriyan Chandra, 09:00 board the beautiful boat and take a relaxing cruise along the Noi River. Take some time to understand the trading and history of local life along the river, all the while enjoying some local snacks and drinks on board. Visit Wat Bang Nom Ko, an ancient temple built in the late Ayutthaya period in 1767 andWat Bang Pla Mo, a beautiful temple on the river.
Cruise back to Suriyan Chandra, arriving at 11:00 or similar, restaurant and enjoy some traditional Thai food at the restaurant.
In the afternoon, explore the breathtaking temple-studded landscape by typical Ayutthayan transport known locally as a Kermit tuk-tuk, visiting the highlight of this city of temples Wat Mahathat, where the Buddha face naturally emerges from the tree.
In between temple visits, get a taste of local life with a visit to a vibrant market. Take an interesting walk through the town's Muslim Quarter which offers the opportunity to sample an unusual local delicacy, candy floss roti. Finally on the way back to Bangkok take a short stop to explore the famous royal summer palace of Bang Pa-In. Built in the 1600s as the summer residence for the Royal Family, Bang Pa-In is an impressive collection of gardens and majestic mansions. Although rarely used these days, the palace retains its royal elegance and offers a great opportunity to learn about the Kingdom’s history and culture.
