Start at 09:30 with a pickup from your hotel and transfer to the nearest Skytrain station. From there, take the Skytrain to Saphan Taksin with assistance from your friendly local guide. The half-day experience begins with a walk through the Bangrak area, which is famous for its fresh markets and family-run stalls. Chat with shop owners, and hear their personal stories about life in Bangrak. Gain a deeper understanding of Thailand’s food culture while wandering from stall to stall.
Continue on foot to Wat Suan Phlu, a lesser-known temple among tourists. Receive a blessing from a monk as part of this truly unforgettable experience, and visit the reclining Buddha.
Then take a tuk tuk or walk (optional on the day) to the Bangkokian Museum, an easy to miss spot unless you know it’s there. Often referred to as the “Bangkok Folk Museum,” this charming space features examples of Bangkok folk houses from the past, along with vintage photos of the city. Please note: the museum is only open from Tuesday to Sunday. If your visit falls on a Monday, an alternative walking tour to Talad Noi will be arranged, where you’ll discover how locals live in hidden alleys of this lesser-known neighborhood.
After some time to explore, take a short walk to Warehouse 30 and stop by the graffiti-covered street on Charoen Krung Road. This fascinating area is filled with interesting architecture, much of it in the Art Deco style from the 1930s. Today, it’s often referred to as the “Brooklyn of Bangkok” due to the area’s recent revitalization. Warehouse 30 itself is a vibrant, one-stop cultural space offering a glimpse into daily life in this unique part of the city. Be sure to check out the wall art of the historic Portuguese Embassy located just across from Warehouse 30.
Finally, cross the river by public boat. Once you disembark, enjoy a short walk to Never Ending Summer for a delightful meal, which serves elegant interpretations of classic Thai cuisine.
Return to your hotel or continue with onward touring by private transport. (L)
