Discover the secrets behind growing, cultivating, roasting and brewing top quality Assam tea in the scenic evergreen hill of Araksa Tea Garden, Chiang Mai. Learn to pick tea leaves, enjoy the art of making tea before tasting a freshly brewed cup paired with delicious Thai snacks.
Pick up is at either 09:30 or 11:00. Drive out of Chiang Mai city to Mae Tang District (approximately one hour) and head straight to the scenic, evergreen hills of Araksa Tea Garden, which specializes in producing high-quality Assam tea—a black tea named after India’s largest tea-growing region.
Upon arrival at the tea plantation, you will receive a warm welcome from the local guide, who will explain the processes and methods used to cultivate the young tea plants, select seeds, and pick tea leaves.
Then, take a bamboo basket and get ready to partake in the tea harvest. Instructed by the guide, pick and collect tea leaves to fill your basket. Afterward, move to the roasting station to experience the art of making tea by hand, from kneading to roasting the tea leaves.
Once the roasting is complete, enjoy a tea tasting accompanied by delicious Thai snacks. A Thai set lunch will be served at the Araksa Tea Garden restaurant before returning to your hotel in Chiang Mai. (L)
