Pick up at 08:00 by an English-speaking guide to explore some of Bangkok’s hidden sites while learning about the history of Bangkok's old town from a local perspective.

Begin by experiencing how locals move around the city, taking the public transport system to the classic Hua Lamphong station. From here, walk to a small local pier and board an electric-powered boat for a canal journey through Bangkok’s waterways.

Disembark and continue by electric tuk-tuk to Wat Benchamabophit, also known as the Marble Temple. Built in 1899 by King Chulalongkorn, it features a combination of Thai and European architectural styles and is constructed from Italian marble. The guide will explain some of the fascinating hidden stories surrounding the temple. Spend some leisure time in the temple and take part in a private monk blessing for a truly enlightening experience.

Afterwards, take another electric tuk-tuk ride to the nearby Nang Leong market. This traditional market is located in the Pom Prap Sattru Phai district of Bangkok and is one of the oldest markets in the city, having been established in the early 1900s. The market is known for its Thai desserts and savoury dishes, as well as is a popular spot for locals to buy fresh produce and ingredients. Take some time to soak up this local environment and sample some of the delights available with the help of the guide.

Opposite the market, visit a long-established local photo locket shop that sells intricate handcrafted pieces, learning about the history of the store from the guide. There is an option to commission a personalised locket (at one’s own expense). Afterward, take a short stroll to a local café near the market to cool down.

Next, reboard the electric tuk-tuk and head from the market through Bangkok’s old town streets to the famous art street locally called Songwat, located in the backstreets of Chinatown. Stroll along the street and gain deeper insights into its history. Grab lunch at a local restaurant in the area before transferring back to the hotel by private van. (L)
