Established in 2003, The Intan stands as a remarkable Peranakan heritage home-museum. Conceived and led by Alvin Yapp, an avid antique collector and owner, The Intan, meaning 'rose-cut diamond' in Malay, captivates its visitors by unraveling the multifaceted facets of Peranakan culture. 

Through a captivating assortment of rare historical artefacts, intriguing personal narratives, and authentic dining experiences, guests are enlightened about this rich cultural heritage. Nestled in the heart of Joo Chiat, a traditional Peranakan enclave and Singapore's first heritage town.

Beyond its role as a home-museum, The Intan also serves as a unique event space, hosting diverse activities including jewellery exhibitions, art shows, and melodious violin recitals.

Meet Alvin Yapp, a collector, advocator, believer, and educator. He stands as one of Singapore's prominent figures in promoting Peranakan culture, drawing from over two decades of experience as a curator of Peranakan antiques. His passion for Peranakan heritage ignited during his teenage years, leading him to amass a remarkable collection of Peranakan antiques. Committed to knowledge-sharing and preservation, Alvin, together with his parents, curates and maintains the museum collection at The Intan. For him, The Intan is not merely a commercial endeavour, but rather an emotive and ever-evolving tribute to one of Singapore's most distinctive communities. 

Alvin's passion for his ancestry drives him to share a glimpse of the bygone era, allowing you to immerse yourself in the history, traditions, and unique lifestyle of the Peranakan community through an experiential journey like no other.

The visit will end with The Intan Signature Tea & a variety of Nyonya Kuehs.
