Jeddah’s Red Sea isn’t only rich with gorgeous marine life but also has its fair share of mysteries. Due to an unlucky combination of shallow waters, bad weather and technical difficulties, several ships have sunk along Jeddah’s coast. Some of these wrecks have been lying untouched for decades, attracting marine life from all over the Red Sea and giving a new life to these bulky giants.

A journey to one of the coastline’s shipwrecks offers a memorable evening scene. Takwa picnic seating is arranged on the beach, overlooking a striking shipwreck just offshore. With a bonfire providing warmth, snacks and Arabic coffee are enjoyed while the guide shares stories of the ship’s past, creating an atmospheric blend of history and natural beauty against the backdrop of a vibrant Red Sea sunset. Notes:

If it’s too windy, a bonfire will not be possible.
