Take an adventurous 4x4 jeep safari across the desert to Tayma, an ancient oasis town. Travel along a mix of off-road and paved trails, enjoying the changing landscapes and stopping to visit geological wonders and the famed Naslaa Rock. Arriving in Tayma, learn about oasis life while exploring on foot and by buggy.
Programme Details
This morning, take a memorable desert safari by 4x4 jeep to Tayma Oasis. The safari is part on and part off-road trip, with the driver navigating tracks that seem to go everywhere and nowhere at the same time.
Along the way, admire the wondrous geological marvels that dot the sand. Stop for photos to capture the beauty of the landscape and to visit Naslaa Rock, the most famous rock formation in the area. Naslaa is a giant boulder that appears to have been cut in two pieces by a laser; straight and clean and each piece sits on its own little pedestal.
Upon reaching Tayma oasis, explore the sprawling sixth-century site on foot and by car or buggy. Among the highlights are Bir Haddaj, one of the oldest and largest wells in Saudi Arabia, with a diameter of 65-metres. There is also a restored fort and a salt lake on the outskirts of town.
After exploring Tayma oasis, enjoy a local lunch and then return to AlUla. (L)
