Balloon enthusiasts consider Inle Lake to be one of the best destinations for ballooning in the world. Conditions here allow the balloons to float over the mountains or mere metres above the water, all on the same trip. While not as famous as Bagan, ballooning in Inle is a much more exciting and intimate experience.
Programme Details
Begin with a morning gazing at the millions of stars on a boat ride across Inle Lake. Disembark at a small village on the banks of the lake for some tea, coffee and snacks as the crew sets up the hot air balloon. Once ready, the pilot gives a detailed safety briefing and introduction to the ballooning experience.
Climb aboard and take off. Float over the lake and see the complex network of canals and waterways crisscrossing in patterns only distinguishable from the skies. With conditions allowing, experience the pilot landing the balloon on a small platform on the lake before continuing the journey. Expect the balloon to rise to 1000 metres, allowing a gaze down on the clouds.
After about an hour, gradually descend where the crew awaits. Toast a glass of sparkling wine to celebrate the flight and enjoy a light breakfast while the balloon is packed up. Transfer back to the hotel with an unforgettable experience under the belt.
Notes:
- An upgrade option is available involving a smaller balloon and extra services before and after the flight.
- Due to weather conditions, Balloons over Bagan only operates from early November to mid-March
- Surcharges may apply for holiday periods like Christmas, New Year etc. (25 Dec – 5 Jan)
