Leave the bustling city of Fes behind and journey to the Middle Atlas Mountains, a region known for its lush forests, serene lakes, and cool, fresh air. The first stop is Ifrane, a charming alpine town often called “Little Switzerland” for its European-style architecture and pristine parks. Stroll through the town and take in its unique atmosphere.
Continue to the Cedar Forests of Azrou, home to centuries-old cedar trees and playful Barbary macaques. Enjoy a gentle walk through the forest, keeping an eye out for native birds and wildlife.
At midday, settle down for a picnic lunch amidst the tranquil surroundings of the mountains. Savour traditional Moroccan dishes, fresh fruits, and refreshing mint tea in a scenic spot overlooking the forest or a nearby lake.
After lunch, visit a nearby Berber village to experience local life. For those seeking more adventure, a short hiking trail leads to panoramic viewpoints of the surrounding valleys.
