Discover community-led sustainability on Mantanani Island with a hands-on day of recycling, local crafts and cultural exchange.
Guests spend a rewarding day on Mantanani Island, learning how the local community is building a more sustainable future. The journey begins at the island’s Plastic Recycling Centre, where guests will meet community members working together to manage waste. They will join in sorting and baling collected plastic before using some of it to create their own upcycled fridge magnet, a fun, hands-on way to see recycling in action.
After a simple local lunch at the village—seafood-based with vegetarian options available—guests will visit a women-led social enterprise that turns locally grown coconuts into natural lip balms and soaps. They will observe how traditional methods are used to make these everyday products and may even try making some themselves.
This meaningful experience offers an opportunity to connect with the people of Mantanani Island, gain insight into their way of life and support their efforts to protect the island while creating sustainable livelihoods. (L)
