Programme Details
Meet the guide at 09:00 the hotel lobby for the 1-hour transfer to Sarawak Cultural Village situated in the foothills of the legendary Mount Santubong. A living Museum offering an excellent introduction to local cultures and lifestyles. Experience the homes and handicrafts of the ethnic cultures and tribes of Sarawak. Enjoy a visit to the village where authentic full-size replicas of traditional homes of the local tribes exist and learn about each tribes’ lifestyles and crafts.
Spend time exploring and learning from the guide the ethnic houses; Bidayuh Longhouse, Iban Longhouse, the Penan Hut, the Orang Ulu Longhouse, the Melanau House, the Malay House and a Chinese Farm House. These houses are built in their authentic style and traditional artefacts. Watch how the womenfolk make intricate bead-necklaces and baskets, observe their traditional cooking methods, admire the refined skills of their male counterpart in handling the deadly blowpipe, making the Parang ilang (ceremonial sword) or casting their fishing nets into the man-made lake.

See and Feel the ethnic groups in Sarawak through traditional dancing. A 45-minute Cultural Show gives a fantastic insight into the traditional dress and cultural dancing of the tribes of Sarawak. Charming Orang Ulu maidens following the pattern of the hornbill, the rugged Iban warrior performing to the rhythm of deep gongs and rainforest musical instruments.
Sarawak ethnic cuisine lunch served in banana leaves in the Cultural Village Restaurant before the return transfer to Kuching city Hotel for approx. 15:00. (L)
