Meet the Bidayuh Tribe in their traditional bamboo longhouse and learn about their fascinating way of life. Explore interesting relics, tuck-in to a native style picnic lunch, build a traditional bamboo raft with the locals and explore rafting along the stream.
This morning at 08:00, leave for a scenic drive passing through rice fields, rubber, cocoa and pepper plantations, lush tropical forests, rivers and mountain ranges to explore Annah Rais, a Bidayuh Longhouse Tribe home to over 80 families.
Located in an isolated valley guarded by four mountains this area is a strategic position which helped villagers ward-off headhunting attacks in the past. Discover the old bamboo longhouse with the guide, learn about the Bidayuh culture and observe the leisurely lifestyles of the natives. Among other interesting relics here is the Canon of Peace and several human skulls which are about 100 years old and kept at the Head House, Baruk.
Trek through the tropical rainforest to learn more about the natural resources before reaching a small stream for a nice dip in the crystal clear running water. The locals will start building the bamboo raft and it is most welcome to learn and help to build the raft. Then tuck-in to a native style picnic-lunch. Embark on an exciting raft along the stream through lush tropical rainforest and enjoy the beauty of the jungle.
Return by trekking to the longhouse and transfer back to Kuching. (L)

The fitness level required for jungle or nature treks in Malaysia can vary depending on the specific trek and the difficulty level of the terrain. While some jungle treks may be relatively easy and suitable for beginners, others may require a moderate to high level of fitness and endurance. The duration of the trekking may be affected by the individual fitness levels of each participant, as those with higher fitness levels may navigate the trails more efficiently, while those with lower fitness levels may require additional time to complete the same trek. Jungle treks in Malaysia typically involve navigating through dense vegetation, uneven terrain, and often steep or slippery trails. The hot and humid tropical climate can also add to the physical demands of the trek. Trekking in Malaysia's rainforests may require walking for several hours each day, sometimes uphill or downhill, and crossing rivers or streams. It is recommended to assess your fitness level, discuss with your guide and choose jungle treks that are suitable for your physical abilities. It's important to be adequately prepared for jungle treks by wearing appropriate clothing and footwear, carrying sufficient water, and using insect repellent to protect against mosquitoes and other insects.
