Embark on a full day exploration of Kuala Lumpur’s Indian Malay culture. 

At 09:00 start this insightful day tour of Kuala Lumpur with a visit to Batu Caves, located north of the city. Spend time exploring the massive limestone caves, learning about the legends and beliefs of the Hindu religion. Admire the towering standing statue of Lord Murugan before visiting Ramayana cave where stories of the Ramayana legend are depicted. Continue to climb the 350 stairs to reach the main cave.

Transfer to Kuala Lumpur and continue the guided walking visit at one of Malaysia’s earliest Ashrams, stopping to learn about its history and to admire its Moghul-style architecture.

Continue through the winding lanes of Little India, walking past flower vendors, street stalls overflowing the fabrics and much more. Grab a stool at a local shop and enjoy a cup of chai tea and a snack for a chance to absorb the vibrant atmosphere.

Resume the tour with a visit to Maha Vihara Buddhist Temple and Jalan Berhala Street, where Hindu Shrines and other places of worship can be found. Learn about the different religions and spiritual beliefs of the Malaysian Hindu while visiting a selection of these sacred sites. 

Around midday take a break for lunch, enjoying a southern Indian style feast. The guide will explain about the variations in Indian cuisine and demonstrate the traditional style of eating with the hands. (L)

Please note: Batu Caves is a religious site, thus a dress code for visitors is enforced. For women, they should cover their shoulders as well as their legs below knee length (nothing too short or revealing). For men, a t-shirt and shorts are acceptable, as long as the shorts are below the knee. Please do not wear singlets/tank tops or flip flops.

 

Please note that you can rent a sarong/scarf if you do not meet the requirements for a small fee.
