Departure from the hotel is at 08:15, with a transfer by 4WD to the Cameron Highlands Tea Plantation for a photo stop and a short walk through the tea fields.

The tour continues to the Mossy Forest of Gunung Brinchang, reached via a short, mostly flat trail leading to a peak with 360-degree highland views. True to its name, the forest floor, tree trunks and branches are covered in a thick layer of moss, home to ferns, wild orchids and pitcher plants alongside various birds and small animals. A boardwalk protects the delicate ecosystem where seasonally available (see Notes).

From there, the tour proceeds to the BOH Tea Plantation at Sungai Palas for a short factory walk and tea tasting; guide access is limited within certain sections of the factory, though directions to the tea shop and plantation café are provided. Free time follows to browse tea products and take refreshments (at my own expense).

The Orchid & Rose Garden is the next stop, with around an hour set aside to explore its horticultural displays, including rare and exotic varieties, and take refreshments at the adjoining café (own expense).

Lunch is taken at a local restaurant, fuelling the afternoon's trek. In the afternoon, a trek of approximately one to two hours leads through the montane rainforest to Coral Hill, a quartzite summit at roughly 1,650m colonised by lichen, moss and pitcher plants alongside wild orchids and rhododendron. The trail is largely shaded with sparse undergrowth, though exposed tree roots and uneven ground call for care underfoot; a guide accompanies throughout.

Transfer back to the hotel follows. (L)

The fitness level required for jungle or nature treks in Malaysia can vary depending on the specific trek and the difficulty level of the terrain. While some jungle treks may be relatively easy and suitable for beginners, others may require a moderate to high level of fitness and endurance. The duration of the trekking may be affected by the individual fitness levels of each participant, as those with higher fitness levels may navigate the trails more efficiently, while those with lower fitness levels may require additional time to complete the same trek. Jungle treks in Malaysia typically involve navigating through dense vegetation, uneven terrain, and often steep or slippery trails. The hot and humid tropical climate can also add to the physical demands of the trek. Trekking in Malaysia's rainforests may require walking for several hours each day, sometimes uphill or downhill, and crossing rivers or streams. It is recommended to assess your fitness level, discuss with your guide and choose jungle treks that are suitable for your physical abilities. It's important to be adequately prepared for jungle treks by wearing appropriate clothing and footwear, carrying sufficient water, and using insect repellent to protect against mosquitoes and other insects.
