Travel by local train to the historical town of Beaufort, a short distance from Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. Learn all about the significance of the town in WWII, take in local sights by walking and indulge in a delicious lunch with sea views.
Programme Details
At 06:45, after breakfast, depart early this morning to Tanjung Aru Train Station to catch the scheduled train departure at 07:39. Arrive at Beaufort at around 09:40.
Experience nature along the way with no traffic disturbance. It takes about 2 hours or more as the train stops at every station such as Putatan, Kinarut and Papar before arriving at Beaufort. Beaufort was named after former British Governor Leicester Paul Beaufort, during World War II, it was the site of a battle between Japanese and Australian forces in late June 1945
Upon arrival, take a walk around the town admiring the shophouses as they retain their original facades before visiting the open-air market locally known as ‘tamu’. Local produce such as fresh fruits and vegetables are sold here. Then, make a quick stop by at Starcevich Monument which was dedicated to Tom Starcevich from the 9th Division Army of Australia during the reconquest of the town by Allied forces on 28th June 1945.
After the tour, drive to Kinarut and transfer to Langkah Syabas Beach Resort, a tranquil beachfront resort within a traditional rustic Sabahan Kampong scene.
Tuck-in to a local lunch. Around 15:00 head back to Kota Kinabalu and drop off to the hotel. Enjoy the rest of the day at leisure.

Tg Aru to Beaufort by Train (92.6km): Approx 2hrs
Beaufort to Langkah Syabas (72km): Approx 1h30min
Langkah Syabas to Kota Kinabalu (25km) Approx 40 min
