Programme Details

Depart from the hotel at 08:00 and head to the outskirts of Malacca to arrive at Kampung Chantik, a vibrant village where time-honored traditions remain part of daily life. Upon arrival, the immersion begins with an energetic demonstration of Silat, a traditional Malay art of self-defense, followed by a chance to take part in the skillful pastime of top spinning.

Take a gentle walk through the village gardens to discover the bounty of the land. Receive an introduction to local agriculture, including rubber trees and the versatile uses of oil palms. Pass by quaint kampong houses built on stilts and discover aromatic curry leaves, pandan, ginger, and lemongrass, as well as seasonal tropical fruits. 

Continue to a traditional house to begin a hands-on cooking class. Under the guidance of local hosts, prepare authentic dishes using fresh, seasonal ingredients. After the hard work is done, sit down to enjoy a delicious home-cooked meal.

The afternoon continues with a demonstration of the sarong, showcasing the various ways this versatile garment is worn. Step inside a traditional house to learn about unique architectural features and the local customs that govern kampong life. Finish with a final stroll through the village. Depending on the time of year, see the village’s paddy field and learn about seasonal rice cultivation.
