The smallest and youngest of Malaysia’s National Parks is Penang National Park at just over 25sq km, and established in 2003. Take a jungle trail to Puntai Kerachut with a specialised nature guide discovering the flora and fauna of the park before a cruise around its magnificent coastline.
At 09:00, be picked up at the hotel and transferred to the northwest of the island to the main entrance of the Park at Telok Bahang. Meet with the Penang National Park nature guide for an introduction to the park.
At 10:00, take the 3 km trail to Pantai Kerachut, a beautiful white sand beach with a seasonal meromictic lake. The trail today will take around 2–3 hours to Pantai Kerachut, stopping en route to explain the park's ecosystem. The nature guide will point out wild herbs and wildlife in the National Park, as well as numerous other plant species along the way. Here, you can enjoy a BBQ lunch, a refreshing drink, and fruit.
The undulating trail crosses streams amid lowland rainforest, where a variety of migratory birds call the park home, as well as macaques, langur monkeys, and a host of medicinal flora & pitcher plants.
At 13:00, be transferred by boat for a slow cruise around the headland to Monkey Beach. Choose to stop for some free time at leisure or transfer back to the park’s headquarters.
