Step away from the tourist trail and into the heart of Southern Laos with an off-road adventure through the Bolaven Plateau. Visit the best coffee plantation in Laos and trek to a historic wartime cave shelter. Explore local farms and villages and swim in the cool waters of a hidden waterfall.
Travel away from the usual tourist sites today and discover the true beauty of the Bolaven Plateau. Depart by van to reach the highlands, then transfer to a local 4x4 jeep to access the rugged roads leading to the Plateau’s most beautiful places.
The first stop is, what many connoisseurs believe, the best coffee plantation in Laos. Although not as famous as Vietnamese coffee, Laos coffee beans are starting to gain international recognition. Walk through the plantation with a coffee expert and learn about the growing and processing of coffee beans.
Then a local lunch will be served: a delicious feast of freshly prepared traditional dishes accompanied by cups of coffee from the plantation. Having refueled, return to the trekking trail and pass through organic gardens growing chilies, cabbage and other produce.
Trek back to the jeep and drive deeper into the jungle to Tad Moune waterfalls. The Bolaven Plateau is dotted with dozens of waterfalls but Tad Moune remains relatively unknown thanks to its secluded location. Enjoy a swim in the waterfall’s refreshing pool, surrounded by beautiful, rugged natural scenery.
Having enjoyed the best of the Bolaven Plateau, it is time to return to the lowland towns of Pakse or Champasak for the night.
