This unique full-day experience combines a comprehensive visit to the Korean Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) with a rare and meaningful encounter with a North Korean defector. Designed for travellers seeking deeper historical and cultural understanding, the tour offers both structured exploration and a personal human perspective on the Korean Peninsula.
Around 7:00, meet the private English-speaking guide and driver in the hotel lobby and transfer by private vehicle to the designated meeting point, where the Korean Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) join-in tour begins with a specialist guide.
The DMZ, a border barrier between South and North Korea, is steeped in history and intrigue. Spend time exploring the various sites and exhibitions at the DMZ including the Freedom Bridge, 3rd Infiltration Tunnel, Imjingak Park and the Dora Observatory.
At the end of the join-in tour, drop-off will be arranged near City Hall Station in Seoul. Thereafter, proceed to a local restaurant for lunch together with the guide.
After the meal, meet a North Korean defector for a powerful and personal storytelling session. This experience offers a rare opportunity to hear first-hand accounts of life in North Korea, the challenges of defection and the realities of resettlement in South Korea.
The meeting will take place at a local café, providing a comfortable setting for the experience. Over the course of approximately two hours, the defector will share their personal journey, followed by an open and interactive Q&A session.
The session is conducted in Korean, with the private guide providing full translation throughout. This intimate exchange creates a unique and respectful space for understanding perspectives that are rarely accessible to visitors.
After the session, transfer back to the hotel with the private guide and driver.
