This private tour offers a unique opportunity to step back in time and experience traditional Korean culture in a beautiful rural setting. Meet the guide at 10:00 to start the tour. Today's tour will be by private, air-conditioned vehicle with a private driver.
Transfer along the Hyeongsan River for 16 kilometres northeast to visit Yangdong Folk Village, a traditional yangban (Korean aristocracy) village from the Joseon dynasty.
Yangdong is home to more than 160 traditional style houses (called ‘hanok’), with either tile or thatched roofs, as well as other buildings from the Joseon era. With a backdrop of beautiful natural scenery, visit the village shrine, Confucius school, and the noble house of the village head. Before returning back, stroll along the village trail to admire the well-preserved traditional hanok.
Transfer back to Gyeongju and visit the Gyeongju National Museum. With vast collections of artefacts, relics, and royal treasures, the museum features a comprehensive insight into the art, culture, and history of the Silla dynasty.
Later, visit Family Choi’s House, the oldest house in the area, built in the 1600s. Then, continue to Cheomseongdae Observatory, a remarkable relic of Korea's Silla era. It is the oldest astronomical observatory in East Asia and a symbol of the country’s scientific heritage.
End the tour with Daereungwon tomb complex (Tumuli Park) to take a stroll and pay respects to the Silla rulers. Take a closer look at the Cheonmachong Tomb consists of a wooden coffin placed inside an underground chamber.
Following the tour, transfer back to the hotel.
