You will be picked up this morning from your hotel to begin your full day Busan tour. Focusing on the legacy of war and post-war evolution, this tour helps forge a deeper understanding of Korea’s history and culture.
The first stop is UN Memorial Park, which contains the graves of more than 2000 UN Soldiers who died during the Korean War. This sombre visit provides insight into the country’s tragic recent history. Continue to the nearby UN Peace Memorial Hall to browse the various artefacts and exhibits that give life to the United Nations’ role during the war.
Shifting gears, the next stop is Yeongdo Bridge which connects Busan with neighbouring Yeongdo Island. Continue to nearby Jagalchi Fish Market, exploring the stalls brimming with the day’s fresh catch. While in the area, learn about Busan’s maritime culture and enjoy a local lunch.
This afternoon’s visits focus on Busan’s transformation into its present stature. Visit the Provisional Capital Memorial Hall to learn how Busan served as a provisional capital during the Korean War. The hall itself, built in 1926, stands as testament to the city’s resilience.
Continue to Gamcheon Culture Village and Ami-dong Tombstone Village, two unique neighbourhoods steeped in history. While walking through the winding streets of these areas, learn how refugees came to settle here and the dramatic transformation that has taken place over the years.
