Today’s tour beings at 10:30. Meet a private English-speaking food expert at a local train station and head out for a deep dive into the Yanaka district, one of Tokyo’s more traditional areas with a popular local food scene. Explore the narrow streets of this lively neighbourhood and discover hidden gourmet gems. Visit tiny shops that have been run for generations, as well as some restaurants that are frequented by hungry locals.

With the help of the guide, stop at several shops and restaurants to try local dishes. This may include freshly fried meat croquettes, crunchy senbei rice crackers, freshly sliced sashimi, steaming salt broth ramen, and a fluffy curry bun from a local bakery. Of course, this also includes a tasting of craft sake or beer and a delicious Japanese sweet for dessert.

The menu is designed to be enough food for lunch and guests should finish satisfied with a full stomach. After a delicious walk through this delightful district, part ways with the guide and continue exploring Tokyo independently. (L)
