Start the tour at the iconic Nagoya TV Tower and stroll through Hisaya Odori Park and the bustling Sakae district, a lively hub blending modern energy and local tradition. The first tasting stop is at a restaurant that invented miso nikomi udon, a comforting, hearty noodle dish simmered in red miso broth, unique to the region.

Next, awaken the palate with a stop at a local Nagoya pickle shop, offering a colourful variety of tsukemono that reflect centuries-old preservation techniques. Head underground into Japan’s oldest department store, where locals still flock for gourmet treats. There, sample tenmusu – a delicate shrimp tempura rice ball – and the crunchy savoury snack ebi senbei shrimp crackers, a beloved souvenir from the region.

It’s time to dive into hitsumabushi, a regional delicacy of grilled freshwater eel served over rice with a twist. The guide will teach the proper way to enjoy this dish in three unique steps.

Throughout the tour, the guide will share stories about the city’s food culture, how Nagoya’s location and history shaped its distinct cuisine, and why locals are so proud of their bold, hearty flavours.

Part ways with the guide and return to the hotel or continue to explore Nagoya independently.
