This delightful full day tour starts from Aomori City with a relaxing 50-minute ride on a local train to Hirosaki. After arriving, a short bus ride brings guests to a stylish café set in a historic building – perfect for a relaxing coffee break.

Next, take a pleasant walk to Hirosaki Park, famous for its seasonal beauty and historic castle grounds. Continue on foot to the Neputa Village, where you’ll experience the vibrant spirit of Hirosaki’s traditional festival culture. See a vast exhibit of brilliantly painted fan-shaped floats that are paraded through town each summer.

Stroll through the heart of the town to discover its culinary charm and make a stop for lunch.

In the afternoon, visit the Hirosaki Museum of Contemporary Art, housed in a beautifully renovated brick cider factory. Along with displaying interesting modern art exhibits, the building itself offers insight into the deep cultural and economic importance of Hirosaki’s iconic apples.

After returning to Aomori City by train, explore the Nebuta Museum Wa Rasse. Different from the neputa of Hirosaki, Aomori’s nebuta variant of this celebration features highly sculpted lantern floats that are highly iconic in the Japanese festival landscape.

Finally, cap off the day at an apple factory for a tasting of locally-crafted apple ciders before returning to the hotel and parting ways with the guide. (L)
