Today’s tour will begin at 09:00. Enjoy a full, guided day in Tokyo discovering some of the city’s most famous areas for Japanese pop culture, locally known as “Cool Japan!”

Begin the day with a class at a Japanese school in Central Nakano, learning not just the history of manga but also the unique style of drawing the world-known Japanese cartoon.

Afterwards, visit Nakano Broadway, a four-level shopping mall purely dedicated to manga and anime. Most of the goods sold here are related to the golden era of Japan’s manga and anime industry, featuring some of the famous ‘70s characters such as Astroboy and UFO Robot Grendizer.

From Nakano, travel by train to Akihabara, one of the quirkier sides of Japan. The “electric town” is famous for its hundreds of electronics shops, and more recently, for being the centre of Tokyo’s anime, manga, video game, and figurine culture. Explore the inner streets of Akihabara, which most mainstream tourists don’t usually see.

End today’s tour in one of the unique Japanese Maid Cafés, where waitresses address their customers as go-shujin-sama (“Master”) or o-hime-sama (“Princess”). This is the time to rest those tired feet, enjoy a serving of a kawaii drink, and take a photo with one of the cute Maids.
