Learn the techniques she lovingly preserves and teaches, especially to children. Learn about this unique art form firsthand, create your own, experience traditional architecture and culture. Then enjoy a warm lunch with her extended family, gaining an authentic glimpse into Balinese life.
Proceed to Goa Gajah, the 'Elephant Cave' near Ubud, and discover an ancient temple complex entered through a striking demon-mouth carving. Journey through a meditation cave and wander the surrounding gardens, featuring bathing pools, statues, temple ruins, and a picturesque ravine. This active temple offers a fascinating glimpse into Balinese history and worship, renowned for its menacing giant face and intricate smaller carvings.
The trip continued to the nearby House of Masks and Puppets, attracting a steady stream of art enthusiasts and visitors eager to explore its vast collection of masks and puppets from Bali, across Indonesia, and around the world. With over 1,300 masks and 5,700 puppets, the collection is displayed in four traditional Javanese antique buildings. This museum offers an exceptional opportunity for discovery and this is our last stop before returning back to the hotel. (L)
