Wake up in the morning for an authentic Balinese experience. Getting to the traditional market on the eastern side of town, the area transforms into a bustling hub of activity as locals fill the stalls with a vibrant array of produce, exotic spices, and authentic Balinese dishes. It's a feast for the senses, a whirlwind of colors and aromas. Join in the lively bartering for some incredible food bargains or simply wander through the aisles, camera in hand, to truly immerse yourself in the local culture.

Afterward, trade the market's energy for the peaceful art of Balinese cooking. Begin with an introduction to a traditional Balinese family compound, where you'll discover the unique architecture and philosophy that reflect the island's way of life.

Guided by a local passionate host, you'll learn to prepare a selection of authentic Balinese dishes using fresh herbs, aromatic spices, and locally sourced ingredients. Discover time-honored cooking techniques passed down through generations, from hand-grinding spice pastes with a traditional stone mortar and pestle to preparing meals using age-old methods that celebrate the rich heritage of Balinese cuisine. Then, savor the authentic dishes you've prepared in the tranquil setting of a traditional village—an unforgettable journey into the heart of Balinese hospitality, culture, and cuisine. (L)
