Known for being the artistic heart of Bali, Ubud’s status today as a global village has managed to retain its charm of the old days. With an eclectic mix of old and new, visit the must-sees of Ubud town and venture to the surrounding iconic terraced rice fields and the holy spring temple.
Visit the Sacred Monkey Forest, featuring three ancient Hindu temples, jungle-covered pathways lined with mysterious statues and of course several groups of cheeky, indigenous macaques.
Proceed to Ubud Palace or Puri Saren Agung, the official residence of the royal family of Ubud. Well maintained, the palace features delicate stone decorations. Explore the front yard which is accessible to the public. Then, stroll across Ubud market, where local vendors come to buy and sell exotic produce as well as handicrafts and textiles. Savor lunch served at a local restaurant with typical Balinese dishes.
Escape the midday heat, with a visit to the Agung Rai Museum of Art (ARMA). Marvel has the best permanent collection of Balinese and Indonesian art.
Then venture into the terraced Tegalalang rice fields. A short hike of an hour will lead to the local village and provide insights into the local life of the Ubud farmers and their sophisticated irrigation system. Continue to the holy Pura Tirta Empul spring temple. Discover why water is such an important element in Balinese Hindu culture and hear how it functions as a holy medium and at special ceremonies. There is a possibility to soak in the cool water pouring from the numerous fountains.
Your last stop before returning to the hotel is a visit to Batuan Temple, offering a glimpse into Bali's rich cultural and spiritual heritage through its stunning architecture, intricate carvings, and religious significance within the local community. Situated in Batuan village, it's one of the oldest temples, believed to have been founded in the 11th century. (L)

During Nyepi Day, a significant religious observance in Bali observed on 19th March 2026, visitors must remain within hotel premises from 6:00 AM until 6:00 AM the following day (a 24-hour period). Both Bali Airport and the harbor will not operate any flights or activities during this time. Hotels will continue to operate with limited staff
